Ordering Steel Rule, Laser Cut, Jig Dies
The CNC machinery used in the manufacturing of steel rule dies (i.e. plotters, lasers, cnc cutters) operates using a different language than that of our postscript imagesetter. This equipment requires a format that can be converted into numerical code (NC). We have a module which allows us to successfully import rasterized, or postscript, images and text. However, we have found there to be a variety of subtle differences in the language of postscript.

Since most gaphic packages can not export to .dxf (our preferred format for this application) it is best to convert your line images to a "Path" or "Outline" and then export and save your job as an Illustrator file (.AI) or (.EPS). This will save the images or text in a format that is easily converted to NC code.

Files must be in the following format:

All text should be converted to curves

Scaling should be 100% actual size

Files should indicate right-reading

Please include in your document only the lines that indicate cutting an scoring. Label these lines accordingly

If designing in Illustrator or Freehand, please make sure all lines are Paths

Indicate gripper, lead edge and wood size

Please include the following additional information in your file or on the completed order form:

Wood size

Knives to be left out or those to made removable

Cutting rule and scoring height

Material to be cut and thickness

Any special instructions
